RE: What do you DO?

Fishing, Shooting, Hunting, Riding ATC, Riding Motorcycle..... actually, about anything you would/could do if you were tent camping or staying in a motel. It's just a "luxury tent" for the most part. Go out and CAMP, and do the "camping stuff" you'd normally do. I (we) use the time for what it is.... ESCAPE FROM "911". It's a de-stressed atmosphere where noone calls us for Medical, Fire, Wrecks, Etc... For those who hunt, bear with me. For those who don't, listen up a sec.... I have spent NUMEROUS days hunting where I sat motionless (nearly) waiting for my prey and just watching and thinking. Sometimes, although rare, I have even given up the shot cause I was enjoying the sights and sounds more than I wanted to deal with the meat. I'm not too odd either. I know several who admit passing up kills cause they were satisfied with just "being out there". I say this because there is some really soul healing time you can find if you turn off the electronic gadgets every once in awhile and just escape "civilization" and have some quiet time.

RE: Tow Vehicle as Gen Set??

I think you'd get a days worth of "12 VOLT ONLY" power for your lights by hooking jumper cables up for about an hour. Beats sitting in the dark. I might try this approach and see what the outcome is. I KNOW that I can charge a dead car battery with cables from my truck, so why not the TT batts. If you need more power to boondock, ADD BATTERIES. If you wanna run those 110AC toys, get a real generator, or go to a full hookup CG.

RE: Don't bite on this stuff

Well, my city water supply does NOT use bleach. They use a mixture of chlorine and ammonia (no "bleach" smell). I thought it was the common disinfectant for city water supplies, but maybe not. No sir, your water works does NOT use chlorine and ammonia. The result would be a deadly gas that could cause caustic burns if inhaled and KILL you. Your water works uses the same things as the EPA mandates for EVERY water system. Chlorine, calcium chloride, and flouride are the usual ingredients. And your water "operator" has to go to school and get trained, then keep up his training with MANDATED classes every few months. If your man is using AMMONIA, then he needs to be reported, arrested, and your city system flushed.

RE: Are you crazy!?

I like the "features" listing of ..... ROOF VENTS. Is that what we're callint a "Big A** Hole in the roof" nowadays?? LOL Looks like a good candidate for "Live Fire Training" at the local VFD.

RE: Need "frying pan" help

We bought a set of cast iron from a place in TN. "Farmers Supply" or something like that. National chain with neat commercials.

RE: Extra LP tank questions

100 gallon tanks are about $80+/- at Lowes. The smaller ones are CHEAP.

RE: Storing camper in the dirt

Dryer sheets are a MYTH. Mice use them to build nests, so how could they help?? Also, bugs aren't effected by them either. Traps. Spray POISON around tires and jacks. Check often for ants and such.

RE: Very good info here, for your safety....

True. It's not the inability to own a TAZER, it's the inability of Citizens to own FIREARMS. Cities and States with Concealed carry, as well as OPEN carry, have dramatically lower violent crime statistics. Not a coincidence. Just common sense. A dog would rather bite a Dove than a CACTUS. Same with humans. The THUGS gravitate to the "victim rich environments". LIKE SCHOOLS.

RE: Smoking with kids in the car a $100 fine in California!

I just LOVE it when there are lots of laws. "Thank You. May I have another please?". I don't smoke. I do "chew/dip". Difference is, you don't have to smell like my spit for the rest of the day unless you really tick me off. LOL

RE: Very good info here, for your safety....

http://www.beststungun.com/advanced-taser-m18l.html Get one of these for the house or camper and then all you have to worry about is "How to get the urine smell out of the carpet!" Bonefish I would actually LOVE to have a TAZER. I think it would fill the gap between standing with mouth agape - and - Big Hole. I'd really feel better knowing I had the alternative to placing a big hole in someone. Not every dangerous person NEEDS a big hole. Some of them just need to be incapacitated and restrained. The M-18L is a really great choice too. It's carried by some law enforcement agencies. I like these things (TAZERS) and hope they will come down a bit more in price soon. On a side note..... From the above lists..... States where all stun devices including TASER are illegal: Hawaii Illinios Massachusetts Michigan New Jersey New York Rhode Island Wisconsin Cities where all stun devices including TASER are illegal: Annapolis, MD Baltimore, MD Baltimore County, MD Denison / Crawford County, IA (*According to Sheriff Tom Hogan*) District Of Columbia Philadelphia, PA States with higher than average violent crime statistics...... RE: Bad Odor in Travel Trailer.

You say it is near the water heater? Maybe a small LP gas leak? That could be it too. It just happened to me where the propane that I had filled up with in Kentucky had a DIFFERENT smell added to it then what I was accostomed to from in the midwest. It did NOT smell like propane it smelled EXACTLY like the odor from a bad gray tank or a dead mouse. And it smelled 'real' bad. I sat in that MH for 'hours' with windows opened (thank God)waiting for the service guy to arrive to look to see if one of the vents needed repair. When the wind died down the smell got stronger and I took another look see around the MH to try and find out WHERE it was coming from.....I was sniffing around the area along side of the couch where the hot water tank and stove was and it almost knocked me out. It was then I noticed one knob on the stove had been turned to the on position. It was leaking gas!!! I researched this and yes each company can put different smells in the propane. I had never been out of the Midwest with my MH so what I knew to smell like propane can be totally DIFFERENT from other states. And no my propane detector did not go off because I had every window open so the smell was there but the wind did not let the gas 'get low' enough to set the detector off.:R Check your knobs and connections for a possible gas leak.:C That almost sounds like they filled you with BUTANE. Wouldn't be the first time they made a mistake in delivering to the fill location. Did it seem to use up more rapidly???

RE: Motorized RV Tax

You ALREADY pay for the "gas guzzler tax" at the rate of about 40 cents per gallon. You contribute MORE cause you use more. If we don't reign them in soon, our paychecks will be direct deposit to the "tax collector" with minimal "personal withholdings" for us to live on. I already pay right at $200 a year for a tag. How much is enough???

RE: What are you happiest doing?

Spring fishing with an old "cane pole" for Bream. (they're fighters for their size) Sitting in the woods hunting and watching the sunrise, the woods come to life, all the critters, and the sunset. Spending a pleasant day with one (or three) of the firearms, punching holes in targets. Riding my motorcycle on the back roads and byways with my club. Camping: Sitting around talking about stuff with wife. (no TV, no PC, just radio) Listening to old radio shows late in the evening with her. Relaxing away from phones, pagers, radios, 911 calls, and the world. Used to enjoy riding the dirt roads on an ATV. Just bought a 200 ATC 3 wheeler again so that will be soon. And of course we enjoy the *** too.

RE: Suggestions for arriving at Campground after Dark?

I agree. Take your time backing in. Use the flashlights. Get Out And Look (G.O.A.L.) OFTEN til you KNOW you are right. Discuss, and even practice, with your "other" to be sure of the signals. My wife can back me up to the coupler and stop me dead on about 7 out of 10 times. But we have a LOT of practice with all types of trailers. Depressing your emergency brake just a "tad" (first notch) will allow you to use only your markers instead of headlights while backing, and not "shine" all your neighbors. State parks are pretty good sites for the full hookups. Call and speak to the attendant. And tell "US" where/which park so we can give you input if we have been there. You will be just fine. Don't hurry - take your time. Don't worry - especially about the neighbors watching you. If it takes a few minutes, and it saves damage, then it was time well spent.

RE: Very good info here, for your safety....

Where do you folks live and how do you live that you feel the need to have a weapon with you every minute of the day. For many, it's a macho thing. I guess the rest of them are scared because their neighbors are NFL players. No "macho thing", just realistic about life. I too hope I never have to shoot/kill any living thing I do not intend to eat. I'm in the life SAVING business, not the life ending business. But I would not blink. Too much at stake. I don't fear anything, especially not some overpaid player of kids games. Nor will I ever live in fear. My firearms are like PITCH's. Hunting and "safety". Just like insurance and seatbelts, they are just another TOOL to prevent harm.

RE: Very good info here, for your safety....

I live in the real world. A world where the most awful things happen to the nicest people every day. A world where the police are only a phone call and 12 minutes away. A world where you can get mugged, seriously maimed, killed, and your wife and kids killed, OR WORSE.... NO MATTER if you live in the big city or in rural farm country. A world where "giving them the wallet" does NOTHING to prevent your demise. And a world where the mix of legal and illegal substances with mental instability makes for some really nasty type people. I have been LEO and am EMS and Fire. I have travelled the cities and countryside of ALL the continental States. And I "KNOW" what the realities are, and which opinions are B.S. concerning crime statistics. I think we have all heard by now that even a young well-to-do mother can and WILL kill her child/children. So why would some mind altered THUG hesitate to harm a stranger??? Here is ONE of THOUSANDS of accounts of why I "carry". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UKL1VXBzTg&feature=related More are here..... http://www.youtube.com/user/TheArmedCitizen And not "made up" stories, unsubstantiated opinions, fbricated "Brady Facts", or "I heard it through the grapevine".... but real LIVE news stories, interviews, and 911 tapes. (I challenge you to watch the videos. Then see if your feelings are the same) We are Correct in our thinking, Right in our choices, and backed by the laws and the real lawmen of this Nation. And we should NOT have to cower from voicing our opinions and beliefs. I know I WON'T be silent OR sorry for my beliefs. EVER. If you don't like my advice on safety, don't follow it. I asked (fairly nicely) for "simple basic respect" from the whiners and that they stop insulting myself and others here who choose to own and carry firearms. But it seems that in their twisted minds, their "feelings" outweigh both my rights and freedoms as well as the TOS of this site. And somehow that transfers to being justified in trying to force their thinking onto others and/or slinging insults. And that brings me to you. (and you know who you are) Since kind requests (and the MOD) are both ineffective at curbing your rudeness, you get the answer you goaded me for.... If folks choose to bury their heads in the fog of denial, then that's their RIGHT and choice. (allowing opressive governments INCLUDED) I believe they have the right to choose whatever they want to, and I don't try to force my beliefs on others. But I also have MY rights and choice. And no amount of snide remarks from other folks (in socialist FOREIGN countries no less) is going to change my mind nor is it going to change the REALITY of this world. And you SURE aren't going to be allowed to infringe on my rights. I'm sorry you are frightened by my tools. I understand fully. When I was Two, I was afraid of my dad's circular saw. I hated that thing, it was NOISY. But I grew up and realized the need for and use for TOOLS and I left that fear behind me. I hope you will do the same someday. Meanwhile, I'll thank you to keep your childish insults and hatred for my freedoms to yourself. They are not welcome, acceptable, or tolerated.
